About
Kristin Voth is a Vancouver-based artist and educator who grew up between the mountains and the ocean in the Fraser Valley. She gravitates towards small things that are often overlooked. Beauty hidden in unsuspected places, like moss growing from the cracks in the sidewalk or the universally familiar faces in family photo albums.
Her work often addresses themes of parenting, memory, and hope. She enjoys exploring a range of mediums in her work, including but not limited to acrylic, printmaking, graphite, cyanotypes, fibre arts and ink. Kristin’s work is deeply informed by both her role as a mother and her study of English literature and theology. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Trinity Western University, a Master of Arts in Theology and the Arts from Regent College. Most recently she earned a Bachelor of Education at the University of British Columbia, with a focus on on English and Art secondary education.
Kristin attempts to make art at her kitchen table in the brief moments that both of her two young children are asleep. In addition to her work as a teacher in the school system, Kristin has a background in facilitating art workshops and classes for children and youth in the Lower Mainland. She has been delighted to join her loves of art and words through collaborating with the Vancouver-based Open Book Art Collective, an art-collective/book-club hybrid that seeks to create dialogue between literature and art objects.
